Working effectively with Tangible's Strategists

Tangible's strategists are highly knowledgable team members who provide guidance to the team and are available for consulation appointments with clients.

Consultation appointments

Strategists are available to our clients for appointments when they need to discuss one of the following:

  • ✅ Project planning or discovery
  • ✅ Online learning business strategy
  • ✅ Product customization or fit assessment:
    • Tangible Cred,
    • MemberSync,
    • Algolia for WP,
    • etc.
  • ✅ Report design
  • ✅ CRM setup
  • ✅ Standards compliance

Strategists can also be called in to assist in complicated conversations, like when sensitive news about changes to scope (timeline or cost) needs to be shared, when a client relationship has been damaged by mismanagement, or when the project is in "at risk" or "critical" statuses.

Strategists should not be involved in the following types of client calls, unless something is going wrong, or the complexity is high enough to require it, or in some rare cases of high-value clients who can afford to pay for as much consulting as they want:

  • 🚫 "All good"-status project updates
  • 🚫 Fact-finding calls (when the client prefers to share the initial details of a new feature or project on a call instead of over email)

Internal guidance

Strategists are available for internal consultation to help develop high-level strategy for client projects, and to unblock projects when implementation or development team members can't solve a problem unassisted. They're generally brought in for:

  • ✅ Project planning
  • ✅ Complex task creation
  • ✅ Troubleshooting technical issues
  • ✅ Guidance on best practices
  • ✅ Identifying existing solutions
  • ✅ Suggesting approaches to new problems
  • ✅ Providing high-level feedback and review of completed work
  • ✅ Reviewing written communication for accuracy
  • ✅ Pointing team members to resources

Strategists generally shouldn't be used for:

  • 🚫 Detailed quality assurance
  • 🚫 Simple task creation
  • 🚫 Data entry or other repetitive tasks
  • 🚫 Tasks with clearly documented solutions
  • 🚫 Recreating and documenting user experience issues
If you're stuck

These are not strict rules, they're general guidance. If you are stuck and don't know what to do, reach out without waiting to avoid causing delivery delays, even if your problem doesn't necessarily fall under approved uses of a strategist's time.

In the interest of efficient use of scarce resources

Tangible doesn't have many strategists on its team, and since they tend to be Jacks(or Jills)-of-all-trades and working in several critical roles, their time and brainpower need to be guarded carefully and used efficiently.

Some of our strategy team members make their time available to anyone on Tangible's team during consistent hours each week, which is a good time to approach them with with issues or requests for information for your client projects. You can find their recurring availability on the Office Hours calendar.

Generally, a particular strategist will have context on your project. They should be used as your main resource for questions relating to that project to limit the amount of duplication of context-building required.
