Creating New Channels

When creating a new channel:

  1. Choose the appropriate prefix from the table above
  2. Keep the name concise — use lowercase and hyphens
  3. Add a channel description explaining its purpose
  4. Set the channel topic if relevant (e.g., project links, key contacts)

Channel Organisation Tips

  • Channels sort alphabetically by prefix, so related channels group together
  • Client project channels (w—) sort near the end of the list
  • Use Slack sections to further organise your sidebar by grouping channels you frequently use
